Instrument Properties

Settings for an Instrument placed on the Parameter Inspector.

Sound Settings

Label
Label the instrument if the default (sound name) is not specific enough.
Color
Changes the track color for the instrument.
Status
Indicates the status of the instrument:
  • Green: Sound is available.
  • Orange: Sound is a replacement, because the original could not be found.
  • Red: Sound is not available.
Rack Module Selection
Select a rack module to provide a sound for the instrument.
Rack Module Channel
Select one of the MIDI channels provided by the rack module. If your desired sound is not listed, you may need to edit the rack module to add more channels and sounds.
Preferred Channel
Demand from this instrument to claim a specific MIDI channel where possible.
Open Plug-in Editor
Works only for plug-ins loaded by the Audio Engine. Plug-ins loaded by a Drone must be opened and edited in the DAW.
Custom Controllers, Articulations
Set up optional Custom Controllers and Articulations for the instrument, overriding those of the sound and device. This is saved with the arrangement only, so the original sound and device are not altered.
Sound Details

If the device has Allow Modification in Arrange View enabled, you can flip this switch and edit Sound Properties without navigating to the Sounds page.

Buttons

Jump to the Sounds page to edit the rack.
Jump to the Device Description editor.
Preview the Sound with a phrase set for its Category.
Open the Sound Wizard to configure the sound interactively.

Audio

Insert FX Slots
Up to three slots are available for effects plug-ins (Express and Pro).
AUX Send
Controls the amount of post-effects signal sent to the AUX Module (If the Global Rack has one).
Volume
Overall output level for the module. Don't use this for mixing. Keep at 0 dB unless you need to compensate for grossly unequal audio levels.
Note: Keep in mind that audio controls are for a whole plug-in. If a plug-in hosts multiple instruments on different MIDI channels, all of them are affected equally.
